Just one of the numerous success stories to come out of MultiChoice’s filmmaking initiatives is Aluta Qupa, from South Africa’s Eastern Cape. Qupa, a graduate of AFDA film school, has started her own production company along with two of her peers — Mbalizethu Zulu and Thembalethu Mfebe — from the Magic in Motion class of 2015.

Aluta Qupa – producer and co-founder of A Tribe Called Story – grew up fascinated by television. “When I was small, I was curious about how programmes ended up on the screen in my home. TV was my thing.” So she followed her passion, securing a place at film school AFDA.

Aluta Qupa is known for Unkosikazi Wokuqala (2018), Moratuwa (2018) and Umqhele (2018).
