The ALCO PA was a family of A1A-A1A diesel locomotives built to haul passenger trains. The locomotives were built in Schenectady, New York, in the United States, by a partnership of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) and General Electric (GE) between June, 1946 and December, 1953.

The goal now of the museum is to fully, cosmetically restore the locomotive (currently only an empty shell as well) back into its original AT&SF "Warbonnet" livery as #59-L.

As was previously noted, Alco never built a PA3. This is a railfan designation for external differences, similar to the various "phases" attached to EMD F unit production. An F7 with a horizontal would be a phase 1, one with a FARR horizontal grill a phase 2 or 3, for example.
