An interesting discussion came up under the SP PA thread. Which locomotive was better at keeping a heavy passenger train moving at speed. I suggest the PA due to their superior GE traction motors and main generator which gave them a higher tractive effort the the E units. Anyone wish to comment?

Oct 4, 2023 · The PA’s engines were the first to break the 2000 HP range and featured turbo-charging. Initial reliability issues with the engine caused the Nickel Plate to return them for RS-36 units when the lease was up. The original NKP 190 was scrapped soon after. (about 1962?) The highest numbered Nickel Plate Road Alco PA-1 was No. 190.
