Alado Furler - SailNet Community
Nov 13, 2014 · The Alado is a better furler than the CDI, but either is fine for many sailors who just want a turn-y thing to make the sail go in and out. But there are real and substantial performance advantages to top-swivel furlers, and PS recognizes that fact.
Fun with Furlers--Alado - SailNet Community
Apr 27, 2012 · I installed an Alado A2 furler myself a couple of weeks ago and thought some might find the installation details useful. Bottom line: the Alado construction is very nice and the way it goes together is clever. One person can do the job but it's best to do this on a fairly still day. I prefer to make things as hard as possible, so I chose a ...
Alado Furling Systems - SailNet Community
Jul 13, 2006 · Alado I have an Alado system that I installed two years ago. There have been some minor headaches, but it has proven to be worth the effort. The installation is easy, but the instructions are poor, and it helps to have some previous furler experience. I didn't have any, and it took me a while to get the bugs ironed out.

Load distributing polypropylene bushings center the headstay to eliminate galvanic corrosion, friction, wear, and noise. The halyard is led through the sheave, returned and made fast to an eye on top of the drum.

Jan 31, 2011 · Alado furlers are generally fairly well regarded and fairly robustly built from what I've seen. I haven't used them personally, so can't comment from first-hand experience. The self-contained halyards are generally not ideal for a larger boat, since the amount of tension you can apply to the halyard is relatively limited.
