The Aeros (8,193 votes) beat out the Spirit (7,361) and the Quest (2,320) on November 7, 1996. (The club’s astro-cat mascot concept survived. A local 9-year old dubbed him “Orbit” in a contest for local school children).

Jan 29, 2025 · At the time of the club’s rebranding in 2014, they held a contest to name a new mascot, and Webster – a male duck, presumably named for his webbed feet – won the fan vote and has since waddled the concourse at Canal Park. Webster is joined by two holdovers from the Aeros era, Orbit and Homer, and Rubberta, a female duck that joined the flock.

The Akron Aeros, a Double A affiliate of Cleveland, play at Canal Park, seating 9,447. An old semi-restored canal is just outside the right field fence. This is another newer park, built in 1997, that is very fan friendly.
