Aerides, known commonly as cat's-tail orchids and fox brush orchids, is a genus belonging to the orchid family (Orchidaceae, subfamily Epidendroideae, tribe Vandeae, subtribe Aeridinae). It is a group of tropical epiphyte orchids that grow mainly in the warm lowlands of tropical Asia from India to southern China to New Guinea.

Grow vine-like species of Aerides in large baskets without any potting material. Water daily. Give all species intermediate to warm temperatures, bright diffuse light, and ample air movement.

The blossoms are white, shaded with pink, and have a delightful perfume.

Aerides is found in most of Asia and out to the Philippines and has 19 species, mostly fragrant. They are similar to Vanda in plant form yet their flowers have a forward facing spur. They are best grown in wooden slat baskets with little or no potting media.
