
Acropora Identifications — How the Heck Do You Do It?
Feb 21, 2020 · I started keeping acropora in 2001/2002, back then, not many "comic book names" existed so genus/species was the only way to tell what you actually had. I also was really involved with tarantula/ insect keeping at the time, and common names were generally frowned upon in that hobby, you really had to learn the latin names.
What kinds and species of acropora are the easiest/hardiest
Mar 19, 2018 · Green Slimer, Red Planet, most valida and milli species have been easiest for me. The ORA varieties are a good bet, as is anything from a local reefer that has a history of captaive growth and hardiness.

Nov 24, 2024 · Try hardy Acropora like A. yongeii or A. carduus start them at lower par then every few days move them to higher par if they seem to be doing OK. I had early on in my reef tried the same type of frag up to 3 times before I finally got it to thrive (usually a well known ORA frag I got on sale: cheap and hardy).

My PM pretty much slowed growth to nothing when po4 would be to even .10 or .15 - not stop, but very, very slow.

The Difference Between Keeping Acropora and Other SPS Coral
Oct 9, 2024 · I think you can’t lump all acropora into the same care requirements. I have several acropora colonies that have survived tank crashes and moves that have wiped out many of my montipora. Green Bali slimmer, hawkin’s echinata, Oregon Tort, several stag horn types and a purple table variety are some of my hardiest sps corals.
