Hello guys. as the title sais i have Aspire 5742G and on the download section of the site i see theres a BIOS update. Now i have old aspire 5315 and when i tryed to update my bios on it i almost bricked it. So my question is: Is it safe to update my BIOS on the 5742G and will doing so improve my laptop performace.

I suspect this Acer Aspire 5742G has no such switch! The electrician sealing putty is an interesting idea… where there are no thermal pads selling. Conductive or non-conductive? Cause I don´t understand much of it. Unfortunately, I think my skills at kneading putty are not that good enough for making a dime thick layer.

After little to no hussle, i've changed my intel i3 380M processor on my 10yo Acer Aspire 5742G processor with an Intel i7 640M. Couldn't be happier. Everything works like a charm. a bit of thermo paste, some fan cleaning and a bit of freshen up here an there, i can honestly say i couldn't be more satisfied.
