It is called passive, since the signal paths do not have any active circuits (no boost or buffering, etc). The 9 volt power going into the box is only to control the LED indicators.

Apr 1, 2008 · cool, thanks for the advice, i am gonna give a try, should be pretty easy actually... I have one of these switches, it has a 9 volt input but it is a mini plug rather than a dc jack. I need to change it too. This is the jack you need. This how to wire your jack so you can still use a battery if you want to. thanks ^^^
