ABUS lock sticking; advice please | CycleChat Cycling Forum
Feb 8, 2009 · Anyone have this problem. It took me 10 mins of fiddling around to open my ABUS steel-o-flex lock. Almost gave up and went home for a tin of WD40 and then it suddenly opened. Its happened once before. Lock doesn't see much use and spends most of its life in cold but dry garage so its hard to see that I'm treating it rough.

Oct 8, 2020 · The lock on mine is the same type of key as on my Abus D lock, so not complete rubbish although no doubt far from unpickable. Chargers are widely available. As a former copper, you will know that most thieves are not sophisticated and will rarely be prepared to spend any money on what they have stolen.

Aug 19, 2024 · Good advice -as always - so I'll give the "Abus Bordo Lite" a look. All I am wanting is something light which will deter (hopefully) the casual thief. I ride about 8,000 miles a year where I live and have never felt the need for a lock nor experienced any negative reaction when leaving my bike outside a shop, but reading these files on this and ...
Locking a Brompton - CycleChat Cycling Forum
Aug 29, 2019 · Examine the shed to figure out how the bike will need to be secured. Not only the lock needs to be secure but also any rack or post to which you will be attaching the bike. Go for top of the line Abus locks. Most likely a folding lock will be the most suitable, specifically Bordo Granit XPlus 6500.

Oct 4, 2011 · lol - yes - and it's locked to a decent bike anchor - i moved back from university last week and the spare is somewhere in storage - problem is that i have a 100 square foot storage unit with about 60 boxes in, and the rest - it will take several days to go through - talk about a needle in a haystack - but at least the bike isn't going to get stolen easily!!
Practical security measures for leaving one's bike locked up in …
Mar 24, 2025 · If leaving bike for any period of time. I use Abus Granit X D Lock through rear triangle/wheel, cable attached to D lock through front wheel and around the stand if possible. I remove everything possible (the Topeak slide on rack bags with fold out panniers are excellent although not cheap), although I may leave a water bottle there.
Super secure bike locks worth it? | CycleChat Cycling Forum
Dec 27, 2023 · I see Abus have just brought out a 'grinder resistant' D lock ... the Abus granit super extreme 2500... at £203-280 depending on where you look. It doesn't look to be a copy of the Litelok or Hiplok type materials though is made differently to the 'normal' ones ...but there are no Youtube tests yet.
