Abraham Storck (or Sturckenburch; bapt. 17 April 1644 in Amsterdam – buried 8 April 1708) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman, who was known for his marine paintings, topographical views, Italianate harbour scenes and German landscapes along the Rhine. [1]

Abraham Storck was the youngest son of the painter Jan Jansz. Storck (c. 1603–64/70), also called Sturck and later Johannes Sturck (en)burgh, a painter from Wesel in Germany. He received his early training from his father, who also taught his brothers, Johannes (1629–73), and Jacobus (1641–in or after 1687).

Abraham Storck (or Sturckenburch) (bapt. 17 April 1644 in Amsterdam – buried 8 April 1708), was a Dutch painter, who enjoyed a reputation for his marine paintings, topographical views and Italianate harbour scenes.

Abraham Storck is widely considered one of the greatest marine masters of the second generation Dutch School. Spending his entire life in Amsterdam, his style shows the market influence of Willem van de Velde the younger and Ludolph Backhuysen, both prominent Dutch marine painters, whom Storck is believed to have studied with them.

The painter, draftsman, and etcher Abraham Storck (his real name was Sturckenburch) was the youngest and best-known member of an Amsterdam family of artists. Storck was a ­versatile and productive painter of seascapes and a member of the Amsterdam painters’ guild.
