The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) created Medical Assistants Recognition Week to honor and celebrate contributions made by medical assistants in healthcare industry. The week also aims to raise awareness about their vital role in patient care and healthcare delivery.

An AAMA certification is issued by the American Association of Medical Assistants. It is earned by individuals who have completed (or will soon complete) a CAAHEP or ABHES-accredited medical assisting program.

For example: If your CMA (AAMA) certification expiration date is 1/31/2025, your last day to apply to recertify by continuing education is 4/30/2025. If you do not pass on the third attempt, the candidate is no longer eligible for the exam or to recertify the CMA (AAMA) credential.
