XeO3 Shape - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY
May 24, 2018 · From what Professor Lavelle said during the lecture on Wednesday, lone pairs do have an impact on the shape. However, XeO3 only has one lone pair so it is actually AX3E. So it is still trigonal pyramidal. Hypothetically, a molecule with AX3E2 would have a shape called trigonal bipyramidal.

Oct 22, 2015 · AX3E2 forms a T-shape because you can think of it as starting at a trigonal bipyramidal shape(AX5) as it has 5 regions of electron densities.

Sapling Question #1 - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY
Nov 24, 2020 · Hi, so for sulfite ion, when you draw the Lewis structure, you would have a VSEPR formula of AX3E, which is trigonal pyramidal (sulfur as the central atom with one double bonded oxygen, 2 single bonded oxygens, and one lone pair on sulfur). A tetrahedral shape would have a formula of AX4 (no lone pairs). Hope this helps!

e- configuration of SOCl2 and CO3 - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY
Aug 24, 2011 · O needs a double bond has it has no charge (4e-) and 2 lone pairs (4e-). Each Cl has a single bond (4e-) and three lone pairs (12e-). So far used 24e-. Now place the two remaining e- as a lone pair on the S (using d orbitals). S has 4 regions of e- density and three bound atoms so AX3E (trigonal pyramidal) configuration.

T Shape or Trigonal Pyramidal - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY
Nov 29, 2017 · T shape structures have the VSEPR formula AX3E2, which means there are 2 lone pairs on the central atom. Trigonal pyramidal structures have the VSEPR formula AX3E, which means there's one lone pair on the central atom.
AX and AXE - CHEMISTRY COMMUNITY
Nov 15, 2018 · I'm not sure if we have to know this, but I remember in high school chem, we had to derive AX2 or AX2E2 or whatever based off of the number of bonding pairs and lone pairs on the central atom and from that, you could derive the shape of the molecule.
