ASP vs DEVEL which do you like? - Smith & Wesson Forum
Jun 28, 2012 · It is said that Theodore Paris went to S&W with his ASP pistol. He was in some financial straits at the time. He met with a cold reception by S&W executives. They reportedly regarded the ASP with a "not invented here" attitude. Then they copied his design, like they did with the Devel, and incorporated the features in their 469 pistol.
Why Isn’t Someone Making the ASP Pistols?
Apr 17, 2021 · The ASP, based on the Smith & Wesson Model 39 semi-automatic pistol, featured many innovations: “clear grips”—which enabled the user to see the number of unfired rounds remaining; the “guttersnipe”—a gun sight designed for close range combat; and a “forefinger grip”—today a standard feature on the trigger guard of many modern ...
S&W ASP 9mm conversion value - smith-wessonforum.com
Nov 30, 2012 · The last ASP (standard model) I saw for sale (which sold) on GunBroker went for $3995, thats right $3995. The last "Quest for Excellence" ASP sold for $5695. Both the ASP and DEVEL are very important, as they paved the way so to speak for S&W and other gun manufacturers to create small guns, which eventually put both ASP and DEVEL out of business.

Dec 17, 2011 · The Devel and ASP stocks do not interchange. Depending on what model Devel pistol you have: Standard or Deluxe, the grips (stocks) were either standard factory S&W Model 39 wood stocks or for the Deluxe modified models they were custom linen Micarta stocks. The Asp pistol stocks were made of high impact Lexan with a matte blasted finish.

Jun 30, 2013 · No, but have you ever shot a Guttersnipe-equipped pistol? I worked in a gun store and sold an original ASP to a friend in the late '80s; got to shoot it a lot. The Guttersnipe is really not the greatest idea . . . very difficult to shoot accurately. There's a reason that it was an evolutionary dead end.

Teddy Jacobson 3913 - smith-wessonforum.com
Jan 21, 2015 · For example, mid this guy did a convincing clone of an ASP pistol, you'll be sitting on a bit more value than just a slicked up 3913. If it's just a slicked up action and light dehorn, like something Sokol would do, I don't think it would do much than enhance the price by another 10-15% of what an otherwise normal 3913 in same-condition would go ...
ASP and Devel production data - Smith & Wesson Forum
Sep 13, 2023 · Back in the early 70s I had a few ASPs pass thru my hands at local shops where I worked during the busy periods. I was in college and was working for gas and beer money and prayed my 1959 VW would start. Never had enough cash for a 39-2 much less the cost of the conversion. Finally sprung last week and bought an ASP, still in transit.
