In this universe, Thanos gets ahold of an Immensely powerful Object called The Astral Regulator. After he gets a hold of this object, he absorbs lots of cosmic beings, and gains their abilities.

Apr 4, 2022 · Thanos contained TOAA's powers just fine, it's just that Warlock and a past incarnation of Thanos pulled some time shenanigans and made it so Thanos never absorbed any extra power in the first place. Absorbing TOAA's power against his will and leaving him powerless is definitely a defeat.

Oct 26, 2020 · He was able to absorb multiple different powerful beings, one of them being Death and eventually, with that kind of combined power, is able to absorb TOAA. He becomes him, at that point, but truly didn’t defeat him, in my opinion. Everything is restored in the end through some timeline tweaks, but I don’t see that as a true victory for Thanos.

Darkseid has a fairly even track record against Superman with multiple guidebooks and in-universe statements that they are rivals and with Supes even stomping him and breaking his face in Rebirth. Thanos has a more consistent record of stomping Superman-tier beings (Silver Surfer, Thor, etc).

Apr 12, 2023 · The Beyonder had to put much more effort into killing Death than Astral Regulator Thanos had to do to absorb The Living Tribunal, Eternity etc so Thanos has that going for him. However, Thanos was not acasual and The Beyonder can time travel, so he'd probably win. With regards to the second question: Oblivion > HOTU Thanos > TOBA based on feats.
