The starting point for the AMX came when American Motors hired Dick Teague as assistant director of design in 1959. Three years later he became vice-president of Automotive Styling and a new era began at AMC.

When I first heard of the AMX/3 I was fascinated by the mid-engine design, like the Pantera. Stationed in Germany in the early 80’s I was honored to drive a GT-40, Ford powered Pantera, Studebaker Avanti, and view up close a AMX/3.

This is an ongoing tale, with plans to bring the legendary AMC AMX III back to its original intention, making it one of the rarest American muscle cars in the world. Take a minute and watch this incredible short, don’t forget to follow along.
