May 26, 2011 · why use an amc 20 if your going to go thru the trouble to retube, just find a dana 60, there isnt a shortage and they are alot stronger. if you want one with pass car axle be ready to spend, however truck rears are plentiful and rerasonable, shorten it weld the ends on and you can make it semi float without to much trouble...

Dec 30, 2008 · Answered my own question, Drive Train Specialists has several posi options for the AMC 20, among them a truetrac for $569. They also have something called an ECTED which I assume is an electronically controlled locker, but maybe someone could enlighten us on exactly what that is and the pros/cons? Feb 13, 2016 · Didn't the AMX package on the Javelin include the Twin-Grip rear, or was it a separate option? There are lots of aftermarket limited slip and locker options for the AMC 20. "Affordable" depends on your perspective and budget. Just select your favourite on-line retailer and search for "AMC 20 differential carrier".

Apr 25, 2018 · FSJ AMC 20s had larger tubes, larger bearings and one-piece axle shafts. Little Jeeps had the same basic 2-piece shaft and hub setup as cars, except for hub pilot diameter and wheel bolt pattern. Lots of one-piece axle shaft kits for Jeeps, as an option to a full-floater, depending on application.

Nov 24, 2018 · I always replace the 2 piece axles with 1 piece axles when rebuilding a model 20, spun a hub in my AMX. I used Dr Diff 1 piece axles in a model 20 from a Gremlin that was installed in an American, pleased with the results. Also have Moser 1 piece axles in my 70 AMX, again very pleased with the results.

Nov 2, 2022 · Typical Power Lok with two-piece case and two cross shafts seating in "v" shaped cutouts. Looking at it I think it from an AMC 20. It has 8 ring gear bolt holes (7/16"), The axles splines look about 29 and the diff bearing had no shims (AMC 20's have the shims between the bearing cup and housing).

If you haven't done gears before and don't have the tools, better left to a professional. .005" off in the setup can make the difference between quiet, noisy, or self destruct.
