This guide introduces the High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing for AIX (HACMP) software. This information is also available on the documentation CD that is shipped with the operating system.

HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing) development started around the same time to provide high availability solution for applications. HACMP was first shipped in 1991 and at that time one of the pre-requisites was to install IBM PSSP software.

IBM® PowerHA® SystemMirror® for AIX® (formerly IBM HACMPTM) was first available in 1991 and is now in its 24th release, with over 20,000 PowerHA clusters in production, worldwide. IBM PowerHA SystemMirror is recognized as a robust, mature high availability solution.

The High-Availability Cluster Multi-Processing (HACMP) tool builds UNIX-based, mission-critical computing operating systems. HACMP ensures that critical resources, such as applications, are available for processing.
