This is not as important as the input so don't get overly concerned about the cables, etc. If you are using input monitoring in Sonar just use a pair of the outputs on your Echo Gina 24 to monitor while you record.

Mar 1, 2005 · If one of your external devices has an Optical input, then maybe something like the M-audio Co3 or Behringer SRC2496 should work as they have both RCA, AES/EBU and Optical outputs working off one of the optical, AES/EBU or RCA inputs. It's actually possible to connect AES/EBU to RCA s/pdif with the right cable.

Nov 20, 2003 · AES says RMS of a full-scale sine wave will be 0 dB RMS others like Sonar say it is -3 dB RMS (the mathematical result). AES says a square wave will be +3.01 dB RMS and a Sonar says it will be 0 dB RMS. Just remember that anyone using the AES standard will give RMS values that are 3 dB higher, but everyone will agree on peak dB values.

Nov 9, 2003 · Digital interfaces like SPDIF, ADAT, AES, etc are a pain in the @. And in almost all cases your sound card should be the master clock. The only problem is digital audio interfaces are single direction only so the only way you can clock from the FW-1884 is if you have another cable connected the other direction like SPDIF or word clock.

Jul 23, 2016 · The MOTU would need to look to its optical input for word-clock. The thing you have to avoid is having both the VS700 and MOTU each on their own (separate) word-clock. Whenever you merge two digital audio streams (each on separate word-clock), there will be small pops/ticks in the audio.

Dec 20, 2011 · I have taken the output of a small mixing desk to the analogue input of the AD converter and then plugged the SPDIF output into the input SPDIF of the Quad Capture, and it works. I had to change the settings of the Quad Capture interface software to 3/4 and the same in The SONAR preferences.
