The AE86 series of the Toyota Corolla Levin and Toyota Sprinter Trueno are small, front-engine/rear-wheel-drive models within the mostly front-engine/front-wheel-drive fifth generation Corolla (E80) range—marketed by Toyota from 1983 to 1987 in coupé and liftback configurations.

May 22, 2009 · Basically the GT / GTS / GTV trims are all the same: they are more spartan. The Apex was more luxurious (like it had a digidash in the zenki era) and all other trims (SR / SR5 / Lisse / XL / etc) were lower grade with cheaper seats and doorpanels.

In Japan, the DOHC 4A-GEU AE86 was offered in GT, GT-APEX and GTV trims as the Corolla Levin or Sprinter Trueno, with SOHC 3A-U AE85 version sold in a variety of trims including SR, GT, et cetera.

US spec SR5 though designated AE86, were equipped with standard AE85 rear axles and drum brakes as well as interior trim. 4A-GEC is a specific USA California Emissions Certified versions. 4A-C is a SOHC 1.6 liter engine certified for USA emissions, and is similar to the 1.5L SOHC unit in Japanese AE85 models.

Oct 20, 2021 · All AE85s and AE86s have the same chassis if it's the same body style. this is why you can convert levins to truenos and vice versa, ae85-ae86 conversions are possible too. aside from the metal plate with vin and model, every same bodystyle ae86 is the exact same chassis. just how cars work.

Jun 19, 2021 · I’m not sure about the year. But the most obvious about trim level will be the VIN#, if the car is in the US JT2AE86XXX means it’s a sr5 with 4ac and drum brakes in the rear. JT2AE88XXX means a GTS with 4age and rear disc brakes
