ACC’s own jazz pianist, Brian Donohoe worked on an Oscar-nominated song, “Like a Bird,” by Adrian Quesada and Abraham Alexander. It appears on the soundtrack of Sing Sing, and has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 97th Academy Awards.

ACC Music Lesson Placement Auditions. Students who are pursuing a degree in Music or Musical Theater at ACC are required to take private lessons on their primary instrument as part of their degree.

The ACC College Choir offers students from around the college and community a chance to learn and perform various genres and styles from all musical eras, including popular-contemporary music and world music.

The ACC Music Department offers more than 15 ensembles that give numerous performances each year. Ensembles are open to all students from across the college and community. Some ensembles are available by audition, but many welcome anyone with a desire to participate.

The mission of the ACC Department of Music is to help students develop their authentic artistic voices through an awareness and understanding of their cultural, social, and political surroundings without bias.

As a student in the program, you will receive guidance from professors with years of professional expertise in areas such as vocal and instrumental instruction, music theory, and music history.
