The A57 is a major road in England. It runs east from Liverpool to Lincoln via Warrington, Salford and Manchester, and then through the Pennines over the Snake Pass (between the high moorlands of Bleaklow and Kinder Scout), around the Ladybower Reservoir, through Sheffield and past Worksop.

A57 Link Road – a new single carriageway link from the A57(T) at Mottram Moor to a new junction on the A57 in Woolley Bridge. We started construction on the Westwood roundabout and technology improvements in March 2020.

The A57 Link Road project aims to improve connectivity between both cities, increase reliability of journeys and reduce congestion through Mottram in Longdendale and between Manchester and Sheffield over the years to come.

At Drinsey Nook the A57 gives way to the road that uses the bank of the Foss Dyke canal (not to be confused with the Fosse Way - the A46) most of the way from Torksey, on the River Trent, to Lincoln.

The A57 (M) is better known as the famous Mancunian Way - an elevated road that has entered popular culture, forming a high-standard bypass for central Manchester. Much of it is up on stilts crossing over other streets.
