MI5 (Military Intelligence, Section 5), [2] officially the Security Service, is the United Kingdom's domestic counter-intelligence and security agency and is part of its intelligence machinery alongside the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), and Defence Intelligence (DI).

A Branch is a division of the Security Service (MI5). According to Mark Hollingsworth and Nick Fielding, A Branch is responsible for telephone tapping, covert entry, and specialised secret photography:

Apr 7, 2017 · The Black Prince began life at Vauxhall Motors in 1943, the General Staff designating it as A.43. The tanks official designation was ‘Tank, Infantry, A.43, Black Prince’. This was one of the first tanks designed to carry the high velocity 76 mm (3 in) Anti-Tank Gun, the Ordnance QF 17-Pounder, from the outset without needing any modifications.

Nov 27, 2020 · The newly indexed A43 inherited more than the turret layout from the A41. The tank was also going to have much stronger front armour. Even increasing the armour of the Churchill VII to 152 mm did not provide complete protection.

The A43 Infantry Tank Mk. IV Black Prince, was the last of the infantry tanks to be designed in World War II . It mounted the Ordnance QF 17-pounder gun and had significantly more armor than the A22 Infantry Tank Mk.

Developed in 1941 at Plant No.183 under the designation A-43, this new vehicle was intended to replace the T-34 tank and was to be equipped with torsion-bar suspension, a B-5 diesel engine, new transmission and reinforced 60 mm frontal armor.

So far, the British military has adopted a two-tank concept, powered by "cruiser" and "infantry" tanks. Cruiser tanks are lighter in armor and are designed to be fast enough to break through enemy defenses while attacking the more vulnerable flanks and rear.

Special features/ remarks: Distinguished from Churchill VII by longer gun, bigger turret, wider hull, and absence of side-mounted air intakes. Though powerfully armed and armoured, this vehicle's tactical value was limited by its very slow speed. (pre-GS 'A' number designations)
