Feb 26, 2013 · Basically, the ZL is more plush on the trail. The ZR, while nearly identical looking, has a little stiffer suspension designed to be ridden harder. Personally, I'd take a ZR over a ZL... To the OP, the ZL5 should be a good little sled. The 500 in 98-99 was very similar in power to the 600, differing by only 5hp or so.
