Oct 20, 2011 · Had a new 97 rm125 after a 96 cr. The cr was faster but the rm brought my riding up a notch. The handling and suspension were so good. Later had a 97 250, awesome as well. Pulled many holeshots on both and never had a major mechanical issue with either.

Feb 9, 2011 · buy the service manual to see what the recommended maintenance is, and start small with basic stuff: cleaning the carbs, air filter, new plug, lubing the chain, setup the suspension for your riding area (mx track? woods?) and weight, etc.

Sep 12, 2009 · I just recently picked up a 1997 RM 125 for $300. Everything on it is great except it needs an engine overhaul. The bottom end needs probably needs a new connecting rod and possibly the whole crank assembly. How should I go about checking those parts to see if they need replacement?

Apr 2, 2018 · I helped a friend rebuild his 1997 rm125 it took like 10 kicks to start up the first time. He took it out for a ride today and ran fine for 2minutes then started sputtering. Sep 6, 2007 · Ok..So, the problem of the locked up kickstart and bogging down has been solved.. I took it up to the mechanics close to my house, they say the entire engine needs a rebuild. He said the crankshaft, plus assembly, plus pistons & rings, and whatever else it needs will come out to about $1300, with $400 in labor..So thats $1700.
