The 815 is a bit of an ugly duckling. It is a pair of 2E26 beam tubes in one glass envelope, designed for RF transmitting use. The 815 and 2E26 have never been very popular as audio amps.

The 815 is a power double beam tetrode based on the American pattern of two separate valve sections. Operation can be as a push-pull modulator (Class AB2) or RF power amplifier. The 815 produces maximum power up to 125 MHz and at reduced ratings can operate to 175 MHz.

Oct 2, 2020 · I have a rough schematic I came up with, and I have the output transformers and 815 tubes. Possibly have the power transformer too, need to confirm what it's good for. 815 is a pair of 2E26 in one bottle, so kind-of in line with this thread overall.

Feb 17, 2014 · While the 815 will put out about 15 watts in Class AB1 ("normal") mode... they'll whip out up to a whopping FIFTY watts for a PP pair, in AB2. Takes some meaty output and power transformers, but the tube is up to it... see here:

Jan 24, 2007 · To get the best out of the 815, you can run it in Class AB2 and that needs a direct coupled cathode follower (or source follower) driver to supply the grid current.
