How many 8-pin connectors are needed for Z690 motherboard
Feb 8, 2022 · Currently I am using an old Corsair HX750 PSU, which has only 1 8-PIN CPU connector. However on the motherboard there are 2 8-pin slots for the CPU. Still the CPU and PCI-E cables/connectors seem to be "equal". So 1. do I need to buy a new PSU and 2. do I need to use both 8-pin connectors on the motherboard The GPU is GTX 1080. Thanks.

Jul 20, 2019 · The extra +4 (or even +8 on ultra-high-end boards) is for extreme overclocking (aka LN2) and can be safely ignored. I have no idea what the purpose of 750W PSU's and up are these days, especially on mainstream platform. - CPU consumes at most 150W, and that is when heavily overclocked

Jul 10, 2021 · On the 6th and 7th gen CPUs, there are two consecutive contacts on the CPU which are grounded. When you install the CPU on the motherboard, these pads make a connection with the socket pins which "tells" the board to turn on. On 8th and 9th gen, that contact point is RSVD (reserved). Hence I needed to connect these two pins.

MSI x570 Tomahawk - 8+4pin CPU Power Requirement
Aug 5, 2020 · Hi Gurus, My planned build will have a MSI x570 Tomahawk motherboard which requires a 8 + 4 pin power for the CPU. I am looking at an antec HCG 750W PSU which comes with 2 x 8 pin plugs for the CPU. I have read that I can have half of the 8 pin connected to the 4 pin but does it matter which...

Dumb question about CPU power cable | TechPowerUp Forums
Mar 21, 2022 · I'm pretty sure it's the 8-pin PCIe that's specced for 150W. You will literally never max out a modern 8-pin EPS, assuming you aren't using a dodgy cable or some extremely dodgy brand of motherboard no one has heard of. I don't remember the exact number but they're all capable of pulling upwards of 300W per 8-pin (maybe even 400W? can't remember).

Oct 24, 2020 · Removed soundblaster card and plugged speakers into motherboard audio, noise still active. *UPDATE* I removed the GPU and switched to internal graphics to make sure it was not the GPU or the power draw of the GPU causing this. Then I heard the exact same noise as through the speakers, coming directly from the motherboard.
