Jan 27, 2024 · So I guess it airs simultaneously in the eastern and central time zones (hence 8/7c), but then later in the more western time zones. Truly confusing and I'm glad cable is basically dead. Edit: Some other comments pointed out this is actually originally from broadcast TV (radio signals), which makes a lot more sense.

Aug 7, 2011 · It means that whatever show mentioned starts at 8 p.m. in both Eastern and Pacific time zones. This goes back to the "when prime time starts" thing.

Sep 30, 2020 · It means that the TV show airs at 8 p.m. on the East Coast (Eastern Time Zone), which is 7 p.m. in the Central Time Zone (the "c" means "Central Time").

Feb 3, 2023 · I guess I might have worded my question a bit wrong. I mean this is good to know and I guess it's always going to be an issue since one side of the US is 3 hours difference from the other BUT with my question I mostly meant the message that pops on the TV. For us it was "8/7c" including central time in our TV spots.

Oct 29, 2013 · When they say 8/7c its 8PM Eastern Time, 7PM Central Time. They change what most commercials say when it gets to Mountain Time and the other western time zones.
