Jan 9, 2014 · Picked up a 7M-GTE from the junk yard a week ago.. Got it striped down, and dropped it off at the machine shop yesterday. Bare block, crank, and head. Having a list of things done and should get my stuff back next Friday.. I will be posting updates as I go.. This is my first ever engine build but I'm not in the business for half assing things.

So I'm collecting parts to swap a 7MGTE into my 2WD '89 Toyota Pickup and have run into some big questions regarding transmissions that I'm having a hard time researching. Jan 25, 2004 · Marlin suggested that a 1996 or later R-150 input shaft could be installed in my R151. It seems like an R-154 (Supra) or a late R150 (Tacoma) input shaft should swap into the R151 and early R150 trannys, but, I've never talked to anyone who has actually done it, so, I thought I'd ask the experts.
