And the 6F6 family is highly recommended by the manufacturer. Shopping around, it looks like there were at least 4 main variants: 6F6, 6F6G, 6F6GT, and 6F6MG (metal).

Sep 10, 2008 · He needs a SE transfomer like the Hammond HX-125CSE $38.80. The SE transformers have an air gap in the core to prevent saturation due to the primary current. The 6f6 will put out 7 watts with a plate voltage and current of 315 V and about 40 mA. the 125CSE transformer will handle 8 watts and 60 mA.

May 31, 2024 · I've built a few things on turret board and one hi-fi amp on terminal strips (lots of room), but want to build this little 6F6 amp that D-lab/Blackcat describe on their YouTube channel. It will be in a 9.5" x 5" x 2" hammond chassis to fit the old empty radio cabinet I scavenged.

At 350V B+, fixed-bias at -38V 24mA/tube into a 6K load gets 13W at 2%. I had been considering using a 5V4 with a 6K7VG transformer in choke-input but if I use SS rectification, I have 330V to play with. Tubes: Audio's glow plug. Get turbocharged! What about 300v b+, 6K-10k primaries & 200-275ohm cathode resistors?

Oct 17, 2019 · The 6F6 is a generation previous than the 6V6, used in about the same applications. It can use a 7k output transformer in SE at 285V, as long as the voltage is not crazy high I would not concern myself too much about it.
