6C45pi is a cracking little valve with super linearity, but it needs care to stop it oscillating at VHF. Decouple the HT locally, use a carbon-film grid-stopper, and if you use it as a cathode follower, add a cathode-stopper. It needs a bit of current to wake it up, but 15mA is quite sufficient.

May 15, 2017 · The 6c45pi is a amazing little tube but can be difficult at times. I built a new phono preamp (schematic attached) and wanted to check everyone's experience with driving the tube at different points. The datasheet notes (attached as well) that the Ip 40+-14ma and Vp 150MAX! Yet I see much higher voltages and much lower ma used my people all over.

That may be an idea. But I don't think it's a very good one, my power amp will then be a bit depend of the line amp.
