The 635th Materiel Maintenance Group is the Air Force’s only organic Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) unit and is responsible for providing flexible and responsive resources and expertise to support the Nation’s priorities.

Constituted as 49 Bare Base Maintenance Support Squadron on 1 Nov 1991. Activated on 15 Nov 1991. Redesignated as: 49 Materiel Maintenance Support Squadron on 1 Jul 1994; 635 Materiel Maintenance Support Squadron on 1 Oct 2016.

Redesignated as: 49 Bare Base Systems Group on 15 Nov 1991, and became an establishment; 49 Materiel Maintenance Group on 1 Jul 1994; 635 Materiel Maintenance Group on, Lineage. Designated as 4449 Mobility Support Squadron, and activated, on 1 Mar 1972.
