No. 6 Flying Training School RAF is a Flying Training School (FTS) within No. 22 (Training) Group of the Royal Air Force that delivers flying training to University Air Squadrons [2] and Air Experience Flights.

Sep 10, 2024 · Overcoming the local mist and fog, the 6 FTS team successfully deployed three Grob Tutor aircraft to RNAS Culdrose during the week of 26 August 2024 to provide Air Experience Flights (AEF) to cadets in the South West.

An Air Experience Flight (AEF) is a training unit of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch) whose main purpose is to give introductory flying experience to cadets from the Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force. As of 2019, thirteen AEFs are active.

Sep 9, 2024 · The ACPS has now resumed in a new format and is at the forefront of our aviation training package. The cadets received the same training and support from OC No 12 Air Experience Flight (AEF) and No 6 Flying Training School that RAF pilots and those at University Air Squadrons receive.

RAF Wittering is home to the remainder of 6 Flying Training School Units with 115 Squadron providing Tutor Qualified Flying Instructor Training, as well as the Tutor display team. As of March 2022, 16 Squadron became the 6 FTS Standards and Evaluation Squadron.

RAF Spitalgate-based Nos 15 and 37 Training School merged on 15 Aug 1918 to form 39 Training Depot Station. This renamed to 39 Training school on 14 Mar 1919 and again on 26 Apr 1920 to become 6 Flying Training School.
