Jun 27, 2011 · @silk: 1KZ (50 to 100k) is much cheaper than the 5L (100 to 150k) with prices varying between locally used and fresh kabuli imported pieces. KZs are also widely and cheaply available as they are being taken out of cars which are convereted top petrol/cng. 5L is a somewhat rare engine to find.

Jun 25, 2012 · The 1KZ is the only one of those designed to take a turbo. So slightly lower compression and should also have stronger pistons, harder crank and piston squirters. A vehicle certifier here told me about 3L engines wearing out the crank when turbocharged, but I haven't seen it first hand.

The 1KZ-T is a version of the KZ series engine that used a fully mechanical injector pump instead, 3.0 L (2,982 cc), 4 cylinders, SOHC, 2 valve per cylinder turbo diesel engine. Compression ratio remains the same at 21.2:1.

Apr 13, 2017 · I think the 5L pump has a 10mm plunger and the 1KZ pumps have 12mm. So 5L will flow less fuel. Also, check the rated injection pressure (part of the VE part number) to see how it compares.

May 5, 2015 · Am having lots of problems with my 1kz motor and I'm now thinking of swapping it with a 5L diesel motor. Heard it is very dependable. Has anyone done this before or can it be done? Does the 5L motor fit in without modifications required? Ideas please..
