Sep 4, 2005 · RE: GMC and Chevy rearends differen Standard rear end for 55-59 GMC 1/2 ton pickups is the Spicer 45, which is definitely different than the Chevy rear end. Brake shoes are 11"x2", same as on the front of the GMC and I think same as the Chevy. All internal parts of the Spicer 45 are most likely different.

May 19, 2012 · The other engine is in a 53 Chevy and was installed in January, 1968, the code I could see was fuzzy and seems to read CON (can't make out the number) and then D148. which would be April, the first, and 1948. Again, doesn't seem to make sense. HELP. I will try to send some pics. Thanks. Jim G

Jan 18, 2008 · 55-59 Chevy Truck Assembly Manual shows the single horn's two studs attached to a bracket assembly which is bolted to the top of the radiator upper tie bar using a single bolt and an external star lock washer. In the drawing it appears to be about two horn diameters in from the driver's side inner fender panel.

I had the intension to put in my zz4 engine with a th400 modified trans. Think it's to wild to cruise then.
