The 5600x (CPU) was in my original build before I bought the 5800x3d. I think the fact you can overclock the crap out of the 5600x might have a leg up on the 5800x3D ( you can't over clock it) due to overclocking. If your singular want is to play starfield at a good fps, the 5600x will do fine as it has a strong single core boost clock.

Jun 13, 2022 · 5600X is about 2% faster. And if you use PBO with the 5600, you can get it to 5600X performance anyway. Even if it's only $15, I would personally rather use that money for a slightly better SSD/RAM/PSU. Just going from 3600 CL18 to 3600 CL16 would give you a bigger boost in performance than spending that money on the 5600X (link_1, link_2, link_3).

I originally bought a 6950xt since it was on sale, but since the 7900 xt was only $50 more I returned it to upgrade. So far, this card is a beast at 1440 (I usually get >100fps everything maxxed).

However, a supplier is having a sale right now where the 5600x is 80$ cheaper and the 5700x is around 280$.
