Nov 18, 2023 · The best engine from those years is the 3.0 T6. The 3.2 is also good and the only engine available on the xc90 after I think 2011. The SI6 engines (3.0 or 3.2) are relatively easy to work on. There's just not a ton of room to work with in the engine bay. Certain things are weird too. Like accessories being on the transmission side of the engine.

If this is true, the 5 cylinder engines should be 2 cycle–then they would have the performance of a 10 cylinder engine.

If by power you mean horsepower, than the 2.5 L V 6 could produce more power - by just spinning faster. If it could spin twice as fast, it would be pretty easy to produce more power. But the engine needs to be designed to handle that.
