5k vs 4k monitor for photo editing - MacRumors Forums
Jun 8, 2023 · 5K resolution on a 27-inch display provides a level of detail where individual pixels aren't discernible at normal viewing distances, making it ideal for detailed work in photo editing. As for 4K, it's also a high-resolution option, but may not offer the same level of pixel density as a 5K display of the same size.
External monitor confusion: 4k vs 5k vs scaling - MacRumors Forums
Feb 24, 2019 · The default scaling is 2:1. If you have a 4k monitor at 3840 x 2160 this gives you 1920 x 1080 highest quality pixels. If you have an iMac 21.5 inch Retina display 4096 x 2304 this gives you 2048 x 1152 highest quality pixels.
27" 4K 1080p Scaling vs 27" 5K 1440p Scaling (UI Proportions
Nov 18, 2020 · Honestly, 4K at 1440p is fine for most applications. I did go with the 5K Studio Display for luxury sake and best possibly quality text; but for less than 1/2 the price, 4K is probably sufficient for most people. While 4K at 1080p gives the best macOS scaling quality, text and UI elements are definitely too big at 27".
Why so much hate for 4K monitors? - MacRumors Forums
Aug 17, 2008 · Obviously 4K are still very widely the standard hidpi monitor resolutions, and yet there is so much discussion about 4K vs 5k. Click to expand... Totally confused with resolution Mac mini and 4K monitor need help
Nov 24, 2020 · The reason 1920 x 1080 is recommended on a 4k monitor is due to the awful way macOS handles scaling. If you set your resolution to 2560 x 1440, macOS renders at 5120 x 2880. On a 5k monitor, this results in a perfect 1:1 pixel mapping. But on a 4k monitor, the image is scaled down to 3840 x 2160. This results in artefacts, blurriness, tearing etc.
5K 27" iMac vs. 27" 4K Monitor - MacRumors Forums
Nov 8, 2018 · A rather popular Amazon review makes the case that a 27" 4K monitor on a Mac is not nearly as sharp or 'retina' as the 5K iMac. If you agree/disagree, I'd love to know. Cost is also a factor. I can get a new 4K iMac for $1600 versus say a 4K 27" monitor for roughly $600 plus potentially a USB hub if necessary. Thanks in advance for your answers.
New Apple Studio Display vs. Dell UltraSharp 32" 4K U3223QE
Jan 25, 2008 · The Dell is obviously bigger - 31.5" vs. 27". The Studio Display has a decent webcam, but the Dell is a thousand bucks cheaper, and I can get a webcam, and stil have leftover money. They are both IPS monitors. The Studio Display is 5K, but I will only be able to run it at 4K using my 2013 Mac Pro. They both have a glass surface.
LG Ultrafine 5K vs a 27" 4k monitor - MacRumors Forums
Sep 12, 2022 · I have a new Ultrafine 5K and the image quality is good, but users have experience some quirks, but otherwise it’s a good alternative, although it’s more reflective than the Studio Display. The Studio Display is better, but $300 more expensive over the Ultrafine 5K. I tried a 4K LG display and I hated how 1440p scaling looked.
27 inch imac with dual 4k monitor setup vs 5k - MacRumors Forums
Sep 15, 2019 · A 4k display in "looks like 2560x1440" scaled mode gives you the same UI size as 5k in default resolution and is significantly better quality than a native 1440p display, because it isn't 1440p - it is 5k downsampled to 4k, which includes substantially more detail than 1440p would. Frankly, although it is slightly "softer" than a 5k display, it ...
Review: BenQ's Affordable MA270U 4K Monitor Is Made for …
Jul 24, 2017 · In fact, we compared 27-inch 4K to the 24-inch 4.5K iMac and in the end Dad preferred the bigger UI chrome of the 4K. The fact that Apple hasn't really addressed this in the 20 years since my Dad first complained about it, while Microsoft has massively improved Windows' UI scaling, is pretty frustrating.
