LAND 121 Phase 3B/5B was established to replace the current fleet of Australian Defence Force (ADF) Field Vehicles, Modules And Trailers (FVM&T). LAND 121 Phase 3B/5B is delivering medium and heavy field vehicles, modules and trailers as well as the associated support systems.
MDS components will leverage the existing LAND 121 platforms to provide rapid transition between modes of transport and deployment on the ground. The Integrated Load Handling (ILH) system on the HX-77 and crane system on select 40M platforms enable self-supporting logistics without the requirement for additional Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
The HX77 was introduced in 2019 alongside Rhienmetall’s 40M, HX81 and 45M Heavy Recovery Vehicle, under Land 121 Phase 3B, which replaces Army’s aging fleet of Unimog, Mack and S-Liner trucks.
