May 18, 2017 · My new .405 Win is a Ruger No. 1. All of the .405 data by Barnes and Hornady were from testing a lever-action, specifically a Winchester 1895, which I don't believe is even as strong as the Marlin. It seems to me that the stronger Ruger action should be able to withstand greater pressure than a Win 1895.

Aug 1, 2011 · The answer is YES! Many cape buff, water buff, bison, big bears, etc have been taken with the .405 WCF with the proper bullets. I have taken all those with my .405 and you should be able to find my 2012 cape buff post on this site. On the non dangerous game I used 300 grain bullets and prefer the Northfork selection as they address all needs.

May 8, 2011 · The climbin' Lyman aperture sight works well on them. For what its worth the 35 Win was the best of the 95s I had, including a pristine and nearly unfired 1st year 405. The coolest one I had was a constabulary issued carbine in 30 Army (30-40) and it shot nearly as well as the 35 Win. All that my opinion of course

Dec 26, 2018 · I know the 405 win shoots a .411 diameter bullet, and you would be in the 2200 fps range with a 300 grain bullet, so all things considered, around 1600-1700 pounds energy at 200 yards, depending on bullet design ( I don't believe there are many choices) you might not get the performance desired from the bullet.

Jan 25, 2021 · I just had a friend here in Ga who is going to work for Norma at the new ammo plant when it opens .They were asking what calibers did hunters want them to produce I said 405 win .I also tried to get a bunch of hunters to call starline brass to call and ask for it .I had 357 rem max and 444 marlin and 375 win made by them by having a bunch of people call them.

Nov 27, 2018 · I need your help, there's a Ruger #1 Tropical Stainless in 405 Win. coming up at auction here soon and I'm thinking about buying it. I keep trying to convince myself that I need it, but I'm having a hard time making up my mind. I mean I am planning a return trip to Africa in 2020, but it's not like I'm under gunned or anything.

Jul 26, 2013 · However most of my range session I take a big bore416 Rigby and up, mid bore 338Wm-405 Win and something little, below 338. and while the wind won't effect most of my double shooting, will reek havoc on a 800 yard shot with my 308 or 17 fireball at 300.

Apr 25, 2010 · I have seen this announcement of Hornady making this .405 ammo run on other forums and one shooter with two(2) new 1895 .405 rifles bought a couple hundred rounds. There are also some decent prices out on the Internet. Fortunately, I have a good supply of ammo and loading components. Though I do have three .405 rifles.
