Jul 8, 2010 · I think it has it's place in non structural applications which are clearly shown on the 3M 8115 tube which is the one I use. The 8115 is too strong of a bond for GM so the 8116 is a weaker bond to meet GM requirements. I prefer the stronger bond since I'm not using it for GM warranty repair work.

Jul 18, 2012 · Should be glued in with a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in the bottom of the channel. It doesn't take much to hold it in place, and it should not be flooded and coming out at the edges. I'ved used black 3M in the squeeze tube, not sure if the factory used black or yellow.

Apr 10, 2010 · If by butyl you mean the sticky tape that comes in a roll from 3M, that is what I used the 2nd time. I was going to do it myself with the body guy, but the original glass guy was there and he felt bad about the first time he did it with urethane, so he did it for us with the tape.

Aug 28, 2005 · I use a heat gun with an adjustable setting for temperature to remove seam sealer. This will keep from removing a lot of paint around it. If this isn't a concern I have also had good luck using a small angle grinder with the 3M attachments. I use the black surface prep ones. These will wear away after some use. _____

Dec 28, 2015 · The first time I reinstalled my kick panels I used the same sealer that was on the panel when I removed it. THe sealer looked like some type gray clay-like substance. I always had a problem with a leak on the passenger side. This past time I decided to use the 3M Window Weld in the 3/8 diameter ribbon.
