Mar 5, 2005 · What's the difference between 336C and 336CS? Hello Marlin Folks! I recently acquired a 336CS in .35 Rem. According to the date code, this rifle was made in 1993. Sep 24, 2005 · ............JSH, FWIW GPC has NOS Marlin 36CS barrels in 30-30 sans sights for a good price. I know you don't need a new barrel but thought I'd mention it. I have a M93 that had a trashed 26" tapered octagon barrel I gave to 45Nut, and screwed on one of the 36Cs's.

Jun 26, 2011 · Has some strange looking swivel mounts, flat, large two screw mounts, about 1 1/2" long on the buttstock and forend. I can't read completely read the markings on the barrel the band covers some it, but it says 36 and the rest is covered on the model marking.

Nov 9, 2009 · Marlin used up the remaining Model 36 barrels, on the first year 336's. That's why you sometimes find a Model 36 rollstamp. The biggest difference was that the 36 was the last "square" bolt bigbore before Marlin switched to the "round" bolt Model 336. The rifle should have had a "wavy" top to the receiver, without any holes in it.

I am looking at a fine used example at one of my regular gun shop haunts and can not find any info on a "C" designation only. This is a 24" barrelled rifle, short magazine tube, definitely not the carbine and is in 30-30.
