Five different wings/groups have led the Dyess AFB C-130 mission since the first C-130A arrived in the Big Country in 1961. The 317th assumed control of the Dyess AFB airlift mission from the 7th Wing in 1997.

The 317 AW is a "tactical" airlift organization, flying the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules. Since December 2003, the 317th has been in a continuously deployed status in support of the Global War on Terrorism, with elements being deployed into combat areas.

The 39th Airlift Squadron maintains quality aircrew and aircraft to mobilize, deploy and provide intratheater airlift worldwide for Department of Defense customers.

2.19. Aircraft Towing Procedures. The 7 BW MOC and 317 AG MOC will notify Tower via landline of all aircraft towing operation requests. MOC will pass the aircraft tail-number, where the aircraft will tow from/to, and whether the tow operation will access Taxilane Alpha.

Just found out via the EFMP Trick that I'm heading to Dyess (317 OSS). I'm genuinely excited because it was a base I wanted (it was on my FTA BOP application, lol), but I'm interested to know anything you guys have worth sharing.
