Why does a 3060 have 12GB and 3070 only has 8GB VRAM?
May 6, 2021 · AMDs 6000 series all have 16GB so Nvidia started adding more. I would expect any updated 3070 and 3080s to have a lot more VRAM. More VRAM should make a GPU valid for longer and more "future proofed". Nvidia saved money on the VRAM where AMD probably went way beyond what they needed to.
RTX 3070 is starting to show it's low VRAM : r/buildapc - Reddit
Apr 15, 2023 · So about 18 months ago I built my brand-new PC, with an RTX 3070 and a i7 10700F. I'm already regretting going with an i7. Going with any better GPU at the time was crazy (cuz of prices). Issue now is, 8GB of VRAM is clearly not enough anymore for any new games coming out, to play at any better resolution than 1080p.
Should I take the 3070 with only 8 GB of VRAM? : r/nvidia - Reddit
Or is it better to wait for the 3070 TI / Super release, but will there be any and if so, when. It literally torments me. Why can't I just go buy a graphics card and enjoy it with nvidia deciding to drastically cut the VRAM of 3070-3080 graphics cards. Do they really think that 8 GB is enough for video cards of this capacity?
Why does the RTX 3070Ti only have 8GB of Vram? : r/buildapc
Apr 20, 2023 · So, 256-bit gpu bus divided by 32-bit vram chips = 8. Gpu can only support up to 8 vram chips. Micron only supplied 1GB vram chips at the time. 8GB total VRAM. Same story for 3070, 3080, 3080 12GB, 3080ti, 3090 and their GDDR6X chips and bus widths. Do the same math for their bus widths and it’ll make more sense why they came with the vram size.
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the 3070 VRAM : …
Nov 20, 2020 · One of the most beautiful and unoptimized game RDR2 uses 9-10 GB on 4k Ultra settings with rtx 3090. and most of that VRam is not even allocated. 8GB will be more than enough for people who play at 1080P/1440P for probably 3-4 years to come. 3-4 years is a good amount of time to upgrade your gpu whether or not you have rtx 3090 super duplex ti or 3070.
Is VRAM still an issue? : r/hardware - Reddit
Jul 14, 2022 · Using a 3070 in 2029 would suck, just based on how outdated the computational performance would be for a 9 year old card, nevermind the VRAM. lol A GTX 770 (9 years old) today is far from good, and would need many compromises in the game settings to get playable framerates in most modern games, if the games even run at all on the old drivers.
RTX 3060 vs RTX 3070 : r/buildapc - Reddit
Mar 31, 2021 · The 3070 is a great pairing with a 3440x1440p monitor, and yes for MS2020 you'll make full use of it . The 3060 isn't really powerufl enough, don't be deceived by the bigger VRAM, the 3070 does just fine with 8GB.
RTX 3070/ 3060 ti Memory/VRAM temps basic conclusions
I have yet to find a single post that conclusively pointed out that the reason their hash rates tanking were associated with increased memory VRAM temps on RTX 3070 or RTX 3060 Ti. Reply reply
RTX 3070 2k 60fps Optimized Settings with Ray Tracing
The biggest problem is, the minimum FPS in very heavy areas can get very low compared to your average FPS in most areas due to vram limits. With these settings and a variable refresh rate monitor, these settings will iron out most of the glaring issues and frame dips while getting the best visuals for the horsepower of the 3070.
Looking to buy a 3070ti - Are 8 GB of VRAM too bad? : r/buildapc
Don't ask why Nvidia did that. MARKETING. AMD started making GPUs with more than 8 GB of VRAM, so NVIDIA responded. The 3060 Ti came out before the 3060 and has 8 1 GB VRAM chips, while the 3060 has 6 2 GB VRAM chips that have lower bandwidth, so while the 3060 has "more" VRAM, the 3060 Ti can *actually use* more of its VRA
