Nov 18, 2015 · There are differences ~~ and the 2ZZ tensioner doesn't have the range to tension a 1ZZ serpentine belt properly~~. The 2ZZ loses its power steering pump to go into an Mr2 because the PS pump is electric and in the frunk. You need to swap,the idler pulley over.

Thank it must have been a swap with a 2zz in the mr2. I currently have a 2006 matrix XR AWD and that just got a blown head gasket with 209k on the clock I will be changing out the head gasket sooner or later. I'm just looking for a car that I can easily work on I am mechanically inclined and would be getting a manual.

Feb 1, 2023 · In North America in the Corolla XRS/Matrix XRS/Vibe GT and Celica GT-S the 2ZZ-GE made 180 hp up to model year 2005, and 164 hp thereafter. The 1ZZ-FE was rated at 140 hp in the Celica GT, 138 hp in the MR2, and 130 hp in the Corolla and front-drive Matrix/Vibe (all-wheel-drive Matrix/Vibes were downrated to 123 hp) until 2005.

Jun 18, 2020 · I consider a 2zz-ge a 'set and forget' engine. Especially if you get the supercharged version from the Corolla T-Sport. Like most people here have said, strapping a low psi turbo to it (which is like supercharging it, without the parasitic power drain) you get decent results and a nice torque curve.

Feb 17, 2021 · The beams engine makes about 200-205bhp. A better option imo is the 2ZZ-GE. It will also make about 200bhp in a catless MR2 if plumbed into the standard '87-'89 intake but it will weigh a LOT less and is a far easier swap, with pretty much everything you need for the conversion available off the shelf from Woodsport.

As much as I adore the 2zz for its sound and power, a common complaint is the lack of torque in the lower end especially. I heard about the 2ar engine swap from the recent Gears & Gasoline video* but they never mention the potential torque figures.

Oct 11, 2021 · The MP62 I know is an old system but this company uses what they call rev 300 or something. I am willing to try it because I kinda heavily invested with the 2zz, if I didn't I would have swapped over to a k-series any day
