Dec 30, 2024 · I've 'downgraded' to a Mini rather than replacing my iMac because it's like HiFi separates. I can replace bits of the setup as and when. This eases the financial burden when something needs replacing, or I want to 'up-spec'. I've got the base model M4 Mini, but have 2 x Sabrent SSD enclosures which house a 2TB and 4TB SSD.

Nov 11, 2020 · My M1 MBP with 2TB ssd, gets about 5200 on read and write with the black magic speed test. I opted for the 2TB figuring it may last longer with the writes distributed over 2TB rather than 1TB. My 2013 Trash Mac with the OWC 2TB drive gets around 1200/1400 write/read.

And given the size and weight of the new 16" MBP (though actually a reduction for me), I really didn't want to deal with the additional hassle/weight/purchase of using an external drive for something I am accessing daily/regularly.
