Jan 31, 2020 · Members from the 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron test an all-terrain vehicle at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., Jan. 16, 2020. The 28th LRS is responsible for repairing all of Ellsworth AFB’s vehicles and ensuring they are ready to work in any condition.

The mission of the 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron is to provide agile combat logistics support. The squadron is made up of more than 305 professionals separated into five flights with seven distinct AFSCs.

The 28th Bomb Wing is home to 27 B-1B Lancers, and in 2012 began flying MQ-9 Reaper missions. The 89th Attack Squadron is a tenant unit at Ellsworth Air Force Base assigned to Air Combat Command. The 28th Bomb Wing is divided into the 28th Operations Group, the 28th Maintenance Group, the 28th Mission Support Group and the 28th Medical Group.

Redesignated as: 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron, Bombardment, Heavy, on 16 May 1949; 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron on 16 Mar 1950; 28 Transportation, Lineage. Constituted as 28 Motor Vehicle Squadron, Bombardment, Medium, on 28 May 1948.

The 28th Transportation Squadron employs 153 military and civilian personnel. The squadron’s mission is threefold. First, provide daily operational and contingency transportation support for Team Ellsworth. Second, provide transportation for aircrews, movement of mission critical cargo

Sep 23, 2024 · As the sun rose up into the sky ushering in a new day, exercise Raider Reach, a two-week, two-phase exercise involving the entire 28th Bomb Wing, encompassing five groups, 17 squadrons and supporting agencies, and over 4K military and civilian personnel came to a close Sept. 20, 2024.

As the C-5 comes to a stop, Airmen from the 28th Logistics Readiness Squadron’s deployment and distribution flight wait for the ramp to drop and prepare to empty the aircraft. Between Jan. 30 and Feb. 6, four C-5s and three Boeing 747s flew in with more than 500,000 pounds of cargo.
