The bullet size of a .22 mag is ~.224 and the bullet size of the .22 LR, S, and L is ~.218. I assume the .22 LR cannot be fired out of the .22 Magnum cylinder...

Dec 13, 2008 · A .22lr and .22 Magnum are not tactical rounds, so it isn't fair to compare them with a .223 The best round for 150 yards would be a .223, the other two rounds could reach that far but I wouldn't call that practical or humane for larger animales. The quietest round would be the one that is surpressed, or a subsonic .22lr round.

Jul 16, 2020 · Very reasonable cost, performance about the same as 22 mag. the price is between the 22lr and 22mag. When I go to jacketed projectiles the cost rises about the same as 22mag. the advantage to the 22mag is that I don't have to look for the brass. The 22 mag has its place and it is just fine in it. If you want bigger or faster just use another gun.

Jun 17, 2013 · In essence, .22LR from, say a 3" bbl goes from a low of 726fps to a high of 1129fps whereas a .22 WMRF in a 3" bbl goes from a low of 1049fps to a high of 1336 fps. There are numbers too for results from "real world weapons." Lots of good info. I've heard the adage that a .22 magnum gives you .22 LR RIFLE ballistics from a handgun.

We used to carry these stange looking 'last ditch' 3 shooters in the magnum caliber for point blank 'kill-em and get their guns' uses.

Sep 17, 2006 · I used to have a NAA mini revolver in .22 magnum. I ran a comparison test between it and a Beretta Minx in .22 short and an Iver Johnson TP22 in .22 lr. The testing medium was standard 1 inch pine boards cut to fit in a slotted frame. The results amazed me. The .22 lr penetrated the most. Guess which penetrated least?.....The .22 mag!

Give this a try, for every 50 rounds of 22lr you shoot, stick 10$ in a jar (price difference in shooting .22lr vs .22mag). In about a few months, you will have enough to get that .22 mag rifle or maybe even something larger.

Nov 19, 2011 · .22 mag rimfire has 1/4 the power, range and penetration of the 223, and practice ammo for it costs nearly as much as fmj practice ammo in 223. So why settle for something so inferior? The 556 with a .22lr conversion unit is many times more versatile. I don't even bother to own a .22 rifle any more, cause the conversion unit does it all, just fine.
