Apr 15, 2013 · The 2.0t with the twin scroll and direct injection is the best balance of power and weight. 1.8t is fine, but the abf, which again I don't see in the USA(I run a 9a 2.0 16v), is a great engine with enough power.

Apr 15, 2008 · I was going to lean towards a 2.0T for the simple fact it probably flows close to the large port 1.8T head and 16v's are generally cheaper to build than 20 valves. I would like to have a head capable of an 7500-8000 RPM limiter. Hey guys I'm curious to know how does the 2.0T head compare to the 1.8T head (I guess large port) in its ability to flow.

Jul 16, 2013 · The only benefit to the ABF or ABF clone is price of entry. The 20v will make more power equally built. We made 193whp on a 20/20 on pump with MS1, small cams, hydro, 45mm ITBs.

Oct 13, 2024 · My mk2 golf currently has an ABF in it but I have a chance to buy a 20v APX from a 2000 Audi TT with approximately 80k mikes on it. Do I stick with the ABF I've got, or switch to APX? Is it much of a ball ache, or expensive to swap the 20v in? Thanks.

Jun 21, 2013 · For everyday use I would go 1.8T 20v, I loved my ABF on ITB's but it drank fuel even compared to my weighty Vagon. The ABF will be easier to get in to a MKI though, there is only one 1.8T 20v which is nearly a straight fit in to a MkI from what I know...

Jul 26, 2006 · Full proper builds ABF forced induction or 2.0 20vT where the squish is maintained between piston and head will always incur a cost penalty as pistons and usually rods will have to be purchased + the rest. The issue with the ABF turbo from a low cost option is the custom intake and exhaust manifolds.

May 22, 2013 · my comparison will be between the ABF (2.0L 16v) and the 20v 1.8T as both engine are powerful , tunable and not that heavy engines which will not alter car equilibrium much ABF -Its an easy swap you just move everything from mk3 donor car to the mk2 without any hassles . engine , suspension , steering and brakes of donor car will just fit your mk2

There's 2 types of engine to consider, the 'bubble block' and 'tall block'. Typical power output is 120-140bhp, although more is possible with extra modifications such as porting & polishing, change of camshaft, raising rev limit, etc. See here for further info into this type of conversion.
