Later in September 2021, 2Africa officially announced the extension of 2Africa Pearls, extending to the Gulf, Pakistan and India, connecting 46 cable landing stations in 33 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, with a cable length of 45,000km.

2Africa is a 45,000 km subsea cable system and the largest cable project in the world that will facilitate communications for over 3 billion people - over 30% of the world's population. It will drive a unique ecosystem that will boost digital transformation across healthcare, education, and commerce for 33 countries.

2Africa is an international submarine telecommunications cable that circumnavigates the coastline of Africa to interconnect Europe and the Middle East. The system will be one of the first to use spatial division multiplexing (SDM1) and has a design capacity of 180 Tbps across 16 fiber pairs.
